While The House on the Head of the Pond is known for its beauty, we do like to show off our brains too. Case in point: our weekly Trivia Nights Sundays at 5 PM. With bragging rights on the line, teams tackle topics spanning pop culture to presidents.

A favorite night for locals and guests alike, it’s the perfect time to gather your smartest friends, grab a bite, and prepare for glory (and excellent prizes).

Are you over small talk? Craving big ideas? Starting in July, every Wednesday at 4 PM Conversations at The Hedges offers inspiring talks with fascinating people—artists, authors, thinkers, and the occasional local legend. Inspired by original owner Caroline Isabella Homan and her personal library (which was the foundation of the East Hampton Library). Come curious. Leave clever.

CHEF TOM WHITAKER

Tom Whitaker is Executive Chef of both The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach and The Hedges in East Hampton, overseeing the Swifty’s restaurants and all dining across both properties. His fine-dining career has included Relais & Châteaux resort restaurants including North Carolina’s Fearrington House and the Ashby Inn and Restaurant in Virginia.

“Fine dining is an art. It is beauty created from the finest cuisine, in the best surroundings with impeccable service,” shares Whitaker. “It is an orchestra, each person playing their part at the right place and time for an experience like no other.”

THE HEDGES’ FOODIE HISTORY

Swifty’s is the latest chapter in The Hedges’ culinary history. Built in 1873 as a gift from John D. Hedges to his wife Caroline Isabella Homan Hedges—a woman known for her legendary breakfasts and impeccable taste. The inn quickly became a gathering place for epicures and intellectuals alike.

Fast forward to the 1950s, when the inn served as the summer outpost of NYC’s famous Le Pavillon restaurant (once named the best restaurant in the world). Swifty’s carries on the inn’s foodie tradition with dishes that would make Caroline proud.
